Rates, Fees and Insurance

Build a Better You—One Session at a Time

Investing in your mental health doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Whether you’re going through a difficult time or seeking personal growth, each session is a meaningful step toward clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of self.

At Next Stage, we’re committed to making counseling accessible and transparent. Below you’ll find information about our rates, insurance options, and flexible payment plans for in-person and online therapy in Billings and across Montana

We’re committed to transparent, straightforward pricing—because your focus should be on healing, not surprising fees. We proudly follow the Good Faith Estimate policy, so you'll always know what to expect when it comes to the cost of your care.

Pro-Bono and Sliding Scale

We’re dedicated to making mental health care accessible to everyone. As part of that commitment, we set aside pro bono hours every week and offer sliding scale options for individuals who need financial support. If you’re facing financial hardship or have concerns about affordability, perhaps because of insurance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help you get the care you need—without added stress about the cost. These arrangements are re-evaluated every six months. Note, who you are, where you are from, any aspect of your culture or heritage, or your specific diagnosis are not factored at all, into fee adjustments. It is purely based on the supply and demand of our schedule.

Insurance

We want your experience at Next Stage Therapy and Counseling to feel supportive from the very start—including when it comes to understanding insurance and payment.

We accept insurance for clients from all major providers including medicaid.

If you have health insurance, we recommend confirming your mental health benefits before your first appointment. This includes the status of your deductible and any co-payments. When you first contact us, we will ask for your insurance information and DOB. Please be aware that in-network, insurance redemption policies vary by individual plans. For example, many providers will cover an in office session but not telehealth. While we can verify your eligibility, it is your responsibility to ensure ultimate coverage or payment.

Self-Pay Option

If you choose not to use insurance or prefer to pay out of pocket, we offer a straightforward self-pay option with a reduced fee. This gives you full control over your care without the hassle of insurance coverage or restrictions. Self-pay clients are billed directly at the time of service, and a superbill can be provided upon request, which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. This option ensures privacy, flexibility, and a personalized therapy experience on your terms.

Simple, Secure Payments

To keep things easy for you, our office securely keeps a credit or debit card on file for all clients. This makes it quick and convenient to handle any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket costs—so you never have to worry about payment during your session.

Your information is stored through a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted system, ensuring complete privacy and protection.

How It Works:

  • Co-pays and deductible fees are charged automatically after each session.

  • No more remembering to pay or bring a card.

  • You’ll get a receipt emailed to you for every transaction.

Accepted Payment Methods:

  • Credit & Debit Cards

  • HSA & FSA Cards

  • Cash or Check

Payment is due at the time of your session. If you have questions about payment, insurance, or anything else, we’re here to make things as smooth and stress-free as possible.

24-Hour Cancellation Policy

We understand that life happens—emergencies and unexpected conflicts come up. That said, providing advanced notice helps us offer your appointment time to someone else in need and keeps things running smoothly.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. After two times, appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed completely without notice—can be charged for the missed session, which cannot be billed to insurance.

To cancel or change an appointment, please call our office at (406) 598-2587.
