Investing in your mental health doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Whether you’re going through a difficult time or seeking personal growth, each session is a meaningful step toward clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of self.
At Next Stage, we’re committed to making counseling accessible and transparent. Below you’ll find information about our rates, insurance options, and flexible payment plans for in-person and online therapy in Billings and across Montana

Starting counseling can feel like a big step—but it’s also a powerful one toward healing and growth. To help you begin with confidence, we offer a free 15-30 minute consultation—either in person, by phone or video conference. This gives us a chance to connect, discuss your goals, and see if we’re the right fit. Finding the right therapist matters, and if it turns out Next Stage is not the best match for you, we’ll gladly help guide you toward someone who is. Your well-being comes first, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Schedule Free Consultation -
In our first session together, we’ll take time to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’d like to work on. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other and start building a connection rooted in trust and understanding. We’ll explore your goals, the past and what matters most to you. Before, during and after the intake session you may fill out assessment forms whose results will help us work together to create a plan that feels right and truly reflects your needs. This is your space—and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Life can be busy, unpredictable, or just plain complicated—but that shouldn't stand in the way of getting the support you need. Next Stage offers telehealth sessions so you can get support from wherever in MT feels most comfortable—your home, office, or on the go.
All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with internet. It’s a secure, convenient way to prioritize your mental health, especially if you're busy or not in Billings.
Online sessions are just as personal and effective as in-person ones, and we’re here to support you—no matter the distance.

Pro-Bono
We’re dedicated to making mental health care accessible to everyone. As part of that commitment, we set aside pro bono hours each month and offer sliding scale options for individuals who may need financial support. If you’re facing financial hardship or have concerns about affordability, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help you get the care you need—without added stress about the cost.
Insurance
We want your experience at Next Stage Therapy and Counseling to feel supportive from the very start—including when it comes to understanding insurance and payment.
At this time, we can only accept insurance for clients with the following insurance providers:
Aetna
Allegiance
Blue Cross Blue Shield Montana
EBMS
First Choice Health Network
PacificSource
Please note: Clients with the following insurance plans cannot be accepted or billed at this time:
Medicaid
Medicare
Tricare/TriWest
If you have health insurance, we recommend confirming your mental health benefits before your first appointment. When you first contact us, we will ask for your insurance information and DOB. Please be aware that in-network, insurance redemption policies vary by individual plans. For example, many providers will cover an in office session but not telehealth. While we can verify your eligibility, it is your responsibility to ensure ultimate coverage or payment.
Self-Pay Option
If you choose not to use insurance or prefer to pay out of pocket, we offer a straightforward self-pay option and a reduced fee of $150 per session. This gives you full control over your care without the hassle of insurance coverage or restrictions. Self-pay clients are billed directly at the time of service, and a superbill can be provided upon request, which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. This option ensures privacy, flexibility, and a personalized therapy experience on your terms.
Simple, Secure Payments
To keep things easy for you, our office securely keeps a credit or debit card on file for all clients. This makes it quick and convenient to handle any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket costs—so you never have to worry about payment during your session.
Your information is stored through a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted system, ensuring complete privacy and protection.
How It Works:
Co-pays and deductible fees are charged automatically after each session.
No more remembering to pay or bring a card.
You’ll get a receipt emailed to you for every transaction.
Accepted Payment Methods:
Credit & Debit Cards
HSA & FSA Cards
Cash or Check
Payment is due at the time of your session. If you have questions about payment, insurance, or anything else, we’re here to make things as smooth and stress-free as possible.
24-Hour Cancellation Policy
We understand that life happens—emergencies and unexpected conflicts come up. That said, providing advanced notice helps us offer your appointment time to someone else in need and keeps things running smoothly.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. After two times, appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed completely without notice—will incur a $50 service charge, which cannot be billed to insurance.
To cancel or change an appointment, please call our office at (406) 598-2587.
Not feeling well? No problem—we’re happy to switch your appointment to a telehealth session. Just call the number above and let us know.
We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation—it helps us provide the best possible care to all our clients.
